Playgroup Program

IMG_4006.JPG

Do you have dogs in your shelter/rescue with pent up energy? Behavior issues that are rooted in stress/over arousal?

PLAYGROUPS IS YOUR ANSWER!

By allowing dogs to socialize off leash together, dogs become happier and develop the optimism and residency to cope with the constant stress of shelter dog life.

When booking Rock Kennel Training to come to your shelter/rescue group to either create your playgroup program from the ground up OR tweak/improve/enhance an existing program, you can expect the following 3 parts.

ā€‹

Part 1- In the classroom
Interactive, informative video PowerPoint presentation with an extensive question and answer session afterwards so everyone feels comfortable and confident with their new knowledge and skills before moving on to the hands on application in the yard.

ā€‹

Topics covered in this PowerPoint are:

Playstyles, assessing new dogs through off leash interactions, proper use of muzzles, techniques for on leash meet and greets, dog fights, and much more.

Part 2 is broken into a morning session where “helper dogs” are established within the shelter population and an afternoon session, where the more difficult dogs are rotated through the yard for proper evaluating and training.

Topics covered and practiced: Using a gate or catch pen for the most successful
interactions, interrupting unwanted behaviors through body pressure and tools,
learn when to add or remove dogs from the pack, correctly identify playstyle,
categorizing the dog’s profile for potential adopters, etc.ā€‹ā€‹

Part 3- Follow up (3 hours) Free!
Rock Kennel Training’s Playgroup Program includes 3 free hours of
follow up support. The shelter can choose when this occurs (as soon as 1 week
post training up to 3 months post training.)
